Job Description:

WeatherWorks is seeking an Operational Meteorologist with a passion for forecasting and the ability to effectively and efficiently communicate with both clients and co-workers. A sound understanding of the atmosphere is required of the meteorologist, along with the ability to create a fluid, descriptive forecast.

The meteorologist will have the opportunity to provide client-specific forecasts, in addition to creating past weather summaries. Additional responsibilities are likely, along with the opportunity to work within different departments and grow within the company.

Candidates must reside within driving distance to Northwest New Jersey or be willing to relocate.

Schedule:

WeatherWorks operates 24/7 and will require candidates to work rotating shifts which will include a period of overnight or early morning shifts. In addition, the meteorologist will work some weekend days and some holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology
  • Strong understanding of weather processes and forecasting techniques
  • Ability to forecast for snow and ice, along with understanding their impacts
  • Working knowledge of primary forecasting models, BUFKIT, satellite and radar
  • Fluent knowledge and understanding of the METAR code and surface observations
  • Good oral, written and personal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and excel in a fast paced environment
