Atmospheric Sciences Postdoctoral Appointee

Qualifications We Require

  • PhD in Atmospheric Science, Earth Sciences, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related discipline;
  • .Experience in analysis and/or modeling of at least one of the following:
    • Experience using atmospheric models;
    • Experience with dust aerosols;
    • Familiarity with high performance computing environment including Linux/Unix;
    • Experience with computer languages usually used for atmospheric modeling and analysis (Fortran, Python, R, NCL, Matlab, IDL, etc.).

Qualifications We Desire

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams;
  • Interest in contributing to an active intellectual environment;
  • Experience using atmospheric models.

Position Information

This postdoctoral position is a temporary position for up to one year, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to five additional years. The PhD must have been conferred within five years prior to employment.

Individuals in postdoctoral positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
